| Starting in the latter part of the sixties through 1976 the Typhoon series was sold by Structo and the last part
of production was done by Ertl. The early Typhoon featured a large cab bright metal grille and a black on white plastic insert
with the word Trubine slearly defining this as Structo. Saddle bag tanks and a fifth wheel completed the tractor. Early Typhoons
were equipped with whitewall plastic tires. Later models had black wheels and spoke hub caps. The Ertl company bought Structo in
1974 and continued the gas trubine lines until 1976. Through the Structo history they were known for producing specialty trucks for commercial companies such as Jewel, Krogers, Toys "R" Us and others The specialty trucks in most cases demand a higher premium than the normal trucks but that falls back on condition of the pieces. This tractor and trailer was one of the specialty trucks and made for Toys "R" us. In good condition with some loss of paint and all the decals appear to be complete. The value should be around 45-65 dollars depending on the auction format. Retail will not be higher than the auction value on most of these toys. |
