"Foolish endeavors"
I have to put in my two cents worth on
this one. I thought we had a President who was going to make a change
for the people and he has up to this point in time. Now the man has worked himself into a major corner with the support of the
building plans for the Muslin center near ground zero.
There are several key issues here that need to be addressed. Freedom of religion being one but one that I don't think the man needs to use to
present his case. That one just won't work for the American people. Considering the number of people killed on 9/11 and all the soldiers and civilians killed since then
by muslin terrorists in the middle east including Araq telling the American people we need for the muslin faith to build near that site is not kosher period.
Now the man has finally made his stand on the issue and in affect has shown the
American people or at least 69% of us he has sided with the muslin faith over
American pride and stability.
Also using the argument of why and how the American constitution and declaration of independence was written to include religion has no place in this issue unless you
want to use separation of church and state, then the man should have keep his
mouth shut and let the American people decide the issue. The main issue and what makes me wonder about how this is going to turn out is the memories of the
American
people. Are they going to be influenced by memories of that day and who did it and are they going to include the thousands of
American soldiers killed since 1990 when
Bush started the Iraq mess. Do the American people alone have the power and influence to force our government to take a stand for what is right or are they as shown
by past history going to be let around by their noses.
And are we going to let the issue die and when election day comes bury our heads in the sand and not remember who supported what before election day.
Personally I believe the center will be built and the muslin faith will now increase their presence in this country and there is nothing we are going to do about it.
I have nothing against religion as long as it is not forced upon me in any shape or form therefore everyone can believe what they want as long as it does not interfere with my life,
sound familiar. Maybe it should as we are going into a dangerous period of time for the US. Not being a militant or having any right or left wing views I find or
believe I find that the US policy concerning religion is going to cause some major problems here in our own country. We won't have to leave our shores to find trouble.
Religion is forging a way to bring it to us.
As usually these are just the minor thoughts of a grumpy old man.
