Auction one now history
The first farm auction of
the year is now history. Still too cold to go out to one of these
auctions but after a long winter of snow and ice and the wife finally
home after retiring I needed some relief.
Not a
big auction as the owners were just cleaning out getting ready for a
move but still some good stuff to look at and try to buy.
Perhaps
the best buy of the day was an vintage apple press complete that went
for ten dollars. My buddy hauled that home with a big grin.
Myself
I got a really good selection of books for eBay at a very good price of
one dollar a box. This is not going to happen very often, but sometimes
I get lucky.
This is
the same auction company that was dealing with a bad food vendor last
year I was complaining about. At the start of this year he has a really
good vendor with good food and good prices. Hot coffee on a cold day
outside makes everyone feel better and bid more.
A
really great bunch of people to be around.
Most
auction companies have a bad attitude toward the buyers determining they
are working for the sellers only. I was at an auction in Irwine Ky last
year and arrived there early to get a close parking place and was told
to go to the back of the field to park. I am 65 years old with the usual
grips about my health so I decided to leave but before I got back into
my truck the auctioneer stated he was working for the owners and the
buyers were not the most important thing on his list. Haven't been back.
